Annual report: 20 million children were "not fully vaccinated" in 2018
The World Health Organization and children’s agency UNICEF in an annual report – said that Last year, 19.4 million children had not been “fully vaccinated”, 18.7 million in 2017 and about 18.5 million a year earlier.
New data show how progress in vaccinating children against diseases such as measles, diphtheria and tetanus has stalled.
“Vaccines are one of our most important tools for preventing disease outbreaks and keeping the world safe,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. While most children today are vaccinated, there are some that are left behind.
Unacceptably, it is often the most at risk – the poorest, the most marginalized, those affected by conflict or forced out of their homes – who are constantly lost. “- said Dr Ghebreyesus.
